The Pantheon in Rome is my favorite place in the world and I've been obsessed with the idea of watching the rain come through the oculus ever since I visited the space as a young boy but unfortunately whenever I'm in Rome, it's sunny, hot, and bone-dry.
The last time I visited Rome the forecast was for hot, dry weather again but as my plane landed, it suddenly started to rain lightly.
By the time I'd gotten to my hotel through traffic that was even more gnarled and tortured than the Roman norm, the rain was positively torrential.
I threw my bags into my room and ran through the streets to the Pantheon where for 20 glorious minutes I got to watch the water pour down through the oculus. Then, almost as suddenly as it had started, the rain stopped and it didn't rain again while I was in Rome.
