Mo Husseini
Creative leadership, and the systems underneath it
My job is to make a complicated thing land on somebody who didn't ask for it.
The shape is always roughly the same. Somebody hands me a thing that hasn't been done, or has been done badly for so long that nobody remembers why, or has gotten too big to keep doing the old way. There's a date on the calendar and the date is not moving. Then we figure it out, which is the part I actually like.
The medium keeps changing on me. A design organization of a few hundred people with strong opinions and no shared language for what good meant. A climate summit that had to explain the energy transition to half a million people who didn't come for a policy lecture. A board demo that worked three times out of four in rehearsal. A campaign that only existed if strangers sang into their phones. Once it was sixty seconds long and the whole answer was in the edit.
I'm a translator. I take dense, contested, complicated reality and make it land on a person. That's the job under all of it.
